OYSA Concussion Home Page

Why a whole section on Concussions?

Effective July 1, 2012 the State of Florida passed a bill that requires youth athletes in sports orginzations and high schools to complete a Concussion Informed Consent form as part of their registration paperwork.  OYSA proactively included this waiver in June of this year during our Competitive Registration so all of our players meet the new State requirements.  The new law opens a great disscusion and we at OYSA want to make sure all our players, coaches and parents understand what a concussion, or Tramatic Brain Injury (TBI) really is all about so we have created this section of our website as you one-stop source on the subject.  Please take some time, browse these pages, even take the online course offered by the CDC, and educate yourself on the seriousness of TBI in young athletes.
